• Look – 4.5 – Dark copper in color, darker than I would imagine for a golden ale. Nice solid lasting head and great lacing; very decent looking beer.
• Smell – 3.0 – Can’t get much smell.
• Taste – 3.5 – Balanced with some bitterness, but not a lot. Taste improves as it warms. Maltier than a typical golden ale, and like the malt flavor.
• Feel – 3.5 – Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation seems just about right, seems to lessen after drinking for a while.
• Overall – 3.5 – OK beer but didn’t blow me away or anything. This was brewed in April and suggested “drink by” date is about now, so might not be as fresh as the brewers would like. It survived a trip across the pond and was drank in the beautiful state of Maine. I’m not a huge fan of golden ales but this is a solid tasting beer regardless, would like to try this one fresh.
