Funky, Roasty, Vinous, Char
Brewed in November 2012, finished on new oak in January 2013, and released on December 21, 2013. Opaque black with a foamy, coffee-colored lacing. Funky nose with char, chocolate and pepper. Incredibly creamy with flavors of black treacle, char, smoke, burnt raisin, roasty acridness, suggestions of grape must, a slight tartness plus an oaky vinous edge, and a pleasing chocolaty, espresso finish. This beer also laid with Brettanomyces Claussenii for 11 months, and I love the idea of introducing Brett to big Stouts. It's a total beast soother. So damn good.
