this was a bit of a turn off, maybe not a bad pilsener lager overall, but compared to some pretty lofty expectations we came in here with, it was definitely a let down, as were most of the beers we had on our visit, nothing like the funky, mature, and well refined bottled saisons and wild beers i have had from them in the states in the past. i also dont think its a great expression of loral hops, which i have gotten to know lately and really dig, i definitely wanted more from this. it looks the part, nice and clear and heady and bright from the tap, but the aroma and flavor show a minimal hop profile, neither interesting nor crisping, and the lager yeast tastes oddly estery, like its gotten a bit warm or something, not sure about lagering and refrigeration here, their place is pretty small, but this one just seems off right from the start, not unappealing, but not what i expect in the style at all. a light urine element behind some lemon notes, minimal though, with a dusty sort of grain profile, just a little discombobulated to me, but after walking down from the epic beers we had at kernel, maybe nothing would have measured up...
