21|Pale Ale (Mosaic & Citra)

a decent pale ale here, another one without a second number associated with it from what i could gather at the brewery, and done in collaboration with hobsons, who i do not know a whole lot about. the beer is unclear and light rusty orange in color, with a nice head from the tap but a funny nose that i dont really associate with either of these hops, maybe off of fully fresh, but it also has a weird almost astringent character, an obvious vegetal element, and more bitterness than i generally encounter with either strain. the mosaic comes out in the flavor a bit more, familiar now but somewhat muted, and with a bitter tone as well. the beer is mild from a grain standpoint, not real interesting, and there is just some sort of disconnect with it, maybe its not all that fresh, i dont really know, maybe its a weird yeast or ferment, but honestly nobody in our group was really digging it. just a pale ale i guess. i have loved all the bottled beers that have made it to the states from these guys, but was quite let down by most of them at their brewery in london...
