A 330ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2018. Given to me as a gift a little while back. A collaborative brew between Burning Sky and Two Roads Brewing, the label describes this as a dry-hopped New England-style session IPA. Hopped with Goldings, Citra, Amarillo and Mosaic.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. Bottle conditioned. A very hazy amber colour with moderate carbonation and tons of fine suspended sediment. Produces a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before collapsing and dissipating.
S: Aroma of deep resinous hops with hints of pine, weed, citrus peel, mild tropical fruit, leafiness, earthiness, ale yeast and pale malt. More resinous than a typical NEIPA would be but pretty good nonetheless.
T: Tastes of seriously pine-laden hops with notes of resin, dank weed, citrus peel, grapefruit, subtle tropical fruit, leafiness, earthiness, ale yeast and light malt. Very dry, with an intense hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body for the style. Pretty astringent; hop oils dry the palate. Aftertaste of bitter resinous hops, pine, weed, citrus peel, leafiness, earthy yeast and faint malt.
O: Rather good, though not quite in keeping with most examples of the style. Looks OKish; shame about the head retention. Aroma and flavour are intensely hoppy and bitter, underpinned by earthy yeast and malt. Decent body. The bitterness is quite significant; NEIPAs generally emphasise aroma over bitterness. That said, a very tasty brew that would suit hop-lovers everywhere.
