No evident canning date. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a cloudy, dirty tangerine color with a two finger, fluffy, bright white cap and thick, clinging lacing. Its nose offers honey, lemon, banana, clove, coriander, and perhaps a whiff of pear. The flavors open with a nice balance of tangy citrus, sweet, creamy honey, and a good dose of clove, coriander, and peppercorn. The malt base is firm and adds some dry cracker notes. I previously tried this on draught and out of the can the spicing seems stronger. As it warms and breathes the honey emerges more but the spicy bitterness remains strong. It finishes with dry bitterness. The mouth feel includes lively carbonation and the 7.8% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, Lunatic Belgian is a highly approachable Belgian Pale Ale. While it offers all the expected Belgian notes the spicing isn't hardcore. I commend any brewer that offers this style and Flounder has done a very good job with it.

Cloudy light gold,orange appearance.
Medium bodied with at least an average body.
Aroma is sweet malt and honey, spice, orange peel.
Taste is very similar to aroma, mildly sweet with citrus showing up nicely.

L: Honey gold and crystal clear. Light trace of foam head.
S: Very sweet, raisiny. Belgian through and through.
T: Light sweet, raisin and stone fruit. Delicate and yeast driven taste. Well balanced bitterness.
F: Light and smooth.
O: So far this is my favorite offering from Flounder. Full of Belgian flavor. Well balanced. Strong but with enough malt backbone to support it. Delicious!
