My favorite bottle shop in Rochester. This is the best place in town to make your own 6-pack. The selection is great, the single bottle prices are cheaper than at other stores, and almost everything is kept cold. 6-pack prices are a little higher than Wegmans, but lower than other Rochester beer shops.

THE place to go in Rochester if you want the best selection of beers. Staff has always been friendly. They occasionally have beer samplings which is always a plus. A large selection of beers on tap to fill your growler. You can get beers in singles, each individually marked. While the prices are average to slightly higher than average, the great selection they have is worth it.

Their stock seems to be increasing too, as one of their back rooms which previously held little content is now nearly full!

They also think smart. When KBS 2016 was released, they only allowed a certain portion of the bottles to be sold in the AM. This allowed people (like me) to come in after work and not be SOL!

I highly recommend AJ's. It's out of my way compared to other stores in the area, but the drive there is worth it every time.

Decided to go here instead of Beers of the World. It's very deceptive pulling in. It looks much smaller on the outside. Upon entering, you instantly get a 'beer cave' feel - more on that later. The main space is a bit sparse, filled with sale beers, and lined with coolers, which weren't packed when I went, but that's probably for the best because it means that they're going through stock. I entered the back area, which is just a massive spray foam insulation coated space, but has more of a selection than the front coolers. While browsing, an employee was removing soon-to-be shelf turds and marking prices down. Prices were clearly marked, although a little high, but nothing abhorrent. Selection was above average, but as with the normal coolers, there were empty spaces instead of turds. Overall, a nice place.

First stepped in here a few months back and since then they are my first stop. Always a friendly "hello" from the staff when you first walk in and they are very willing to help you find whatever it is you're looking for.
AJs has won my business!

Frigid coolers full of delicious gems from all over the globe. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The beer rare beer hide and seek games are fun to discover rare beers in limited quantities.

Great spot. Helpful staff, great selection, and well organized. You can get just about anything as a single and they fill growlers from a large selection of taps.

Went to Rochester for a wedding this past weekend. Knowing I would have time to kill on Saturday I did some research and decided to go here. I was not sorry.

I don't think anyone mentioned this below, but they sell singles of everything they carry. All (packaged) beer is priced three-ways, by bottle, by pack, by case.

Place is very laid back and casual. For everything this place has going for it I was surprised it was not busier while I was there.

I've been going here frequently, sometimes multiple times a week, since they opened in November. This place has really improved the craft beer scene in Rochester. The prices are excellent, better than Wegman's in most cases. The selection is unmatched for this area. Turnover is also very high, so you won't find old beer on the shelves.

Great new addition to the Rochester beer scene. They have a sizable collection that seems to be continually expanding, with a few rare finds you can only get there. Their growler filling station (looked like 12-16 lines?) features local, NYS, and regional breweries, and provides a local beer education in and of itself. Beyond that is an entire wall of coolers that feature NYS beer. On top of that they have a walk in cooler that is several aisles wide. You can find all kinds of stuff in there. The last time I was there, there were a few six packs of Cigar City beers, which as far as I know, they are the only ones to bring Cigar City beer into Rochester thus far.

They are a wholesaler, and sell well-curated kegs of beer from breweries in NYS you can't get anywhere else. (Galaxy, Horseheads, etc) There are a lot of places to buy beer in Rochester. AJ's sets it self apart with it's local/regional focus, and it's dedication to bringing in new beer to the Rochester area.

AJ's is in Henrietta, just off of Jefferson Road

It looks like it is a converted convenience store. when you walk in there are a couple of aisles of beer to your right hand side, a growler station, where there are about ten NYS beers on draft, another shelf to the left with Belgians and a back wall with a cooler full of NYS beers. To your extreme right is the walk in cooler where there are a good 4 aisles of beer. They had a good selection of beers from the usual suspects like Brooklyn,troegs/left hand/Stone/Great Lakes etc) prices are displayed clearly and you have the option to take singles from 4/6 packs and the single pricing is fair. Prices are a bit better than their competition in the immediate area and the selection is good for locals/domestics. If I could leave a comment for improvement it would be for them to expand upon their selection of Belgian/British and German beers as I felt the selection for these styles was a bit lacking. I would go back here next time I'm looking for beer in Rochester

Great place, always welcomed to sample something from the growler wall as soon as you walk in. Beer is separated by warm Belgian and European selections, a multi-door cooler of New York State Beers and a giant walk in cooler of assorted American craft beers. Pricing is right in line with the market. Selection is certainly growing. Worth a stop by if you are in the Rochester Area.

This place has opened up in the last year in the Henrietta area, and is a godsend. The prices are much, much better than that other big beer place in Henrietta. The selection is pretty good, and getting better every day. The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, sort of a big open warehouse sort of feel. There's a big room when you enter, with a couple shelves of various international beers and some glassware. There's an excellent growler station in the main room- 20-30 taps of all New York State beers. They'll let you try a couple before filling a 32 or 64 oz growler. There a few coolers in the back of this main room with mainly NY bombers and 4/6 pks.

To the right however, is the main attraction- the giant walk-in beer cooler. A ton of great stuff in here- all the way from Sam Adams 12 packs to 50/50 Eclipse variants last time I was there. Most of the packs can be broken up into singles if you so desire.

The people there are great, and knowledgeable, and willing to help you find anything they need. They don't make you give a secret code to get the "good stuff"- all of the beer is out in the open and not behind the counter. They also have a suggestion box where you can request certain beers be ordered, and they'll do their best to get it for you if they can.

Definitely worth a stop or 10.

I've been here twice now, once on the opening day over my Thanksgiving break, and now again that I am home for Christmas. The change between the two has been truly impressive. There is a large selection of local brews, filling an entire refrigerator wall. Then there are several shelf rows of some more popular beers like Guinness and the like, plus seasonal varieties, such as Great Lakes Christmas Ale, and Southern Tier's 2XMAS. The large side refrigerated room is full of craft brews for the most part, and has some really great stuff. They also have an ever growing number of taps, most all of which have the best from the local breweries, which is great to have! We came away very pleased with selection, and couldn't be more happy with the staff, who were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place, and will be patronising them over Beers of the World or Wegmans whenever possible.

Great place, great selection. Better prices than those other big beer stores in the area and better selection. Free samples of beers on tap and a nice little "bar" area to hang out and discuss! Lots of NYS beers available for growler fills an a ton if bottles from around the country/world. A must stop for any beer fan!
