Pours black with a thick layer of creamy colored head. Leaves rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark cocoa, quite roasty. Similar taste, with a drier finish and some hop bitterness. Medium to full bodied.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass and a three finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark, lightly toasted malt, cocoa and mild coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, dark chocolate and coffee. Coffee and mild hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and sharp, active carbonation. A nicely balanced but somewhat subdued basic stout. Good chocolate and coffee notes. Could use a little more malt depth and a little over-carbonated to be velvety, but the flavors are quite nice; a pleasant American style stout.

From the can it pours a dark brown color with some clarity. However, it looks pitch black in the glass. A creamy tan head shows good retention.
Nice roasty nose with copious notes of dark chocolate and espresso. Additional aromas of cherry, dark toasted and dark caramel.
Velvety smooth, as the name implies, and mouth coating. Full bodied while opening with malt sweetness that displays notes of toffee, caramel, biscuit and dark toasted malts. Soon, an assertive but smooth bitterness takes over, showing earthy hops flavors and roasted malts. Bittersweet flavors of dark chocolate and espresso throughout. The finish is dry, roasty and smooth. The carbonation is moderate to gentle.
Nice no frills stout. Smooth, drinkable and with some nice roasty bitterness.
