English: This strong dark ale is based on a mix of specially selected Belgian malts and an authentic Belgian trappist yeast. The aroma is characterized by dark berries and fruit. The gentle and complex flavor is spicy, vinous, caramel and candi sweet, slightly oily and with a delicate touch of chocolate, balanced with a well-matched bitterness. The beer will do excellent with heavy dishes, for lunch and even as a companion to desserts containing chocolate.
Direktøren is a development of the brewer’s award-winning beer, which took the gold medal of the Scandinavian Championship in 2010. It will evolve with age and can be stored for many years.

Copenhagen 17/6 2019. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Bryggervangen, Kbh Ø. Drawing of a CEO with striped tie and suspenders in cool blue colors.
Pours murky brown with a small off-white head. Settles as thin patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Almost no lacing.
Strong, malty, dark aroma. Caramel, brown sugar, dark fermented fruit. Leather. Light bitter notes lurking in the background. Hints of alcohol.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is fairly sweet without being cloying. Followed by a light but notable spicy bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undercurrent. Lingering.
Does not capture the Belgian style completely. But an decent malty, boozy bomb.

August 2013: 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%, IBU 30. OG 1084, FG 1020. Hazy brown colour, large off-white head. Aroma of malts, fruitcake, brown kandij sugar, some caramel and dark dried fruits, "dusty hops". Fairly sweet flavour, malts, dark dried fruits and fruitcake again, more British than Belgian, despite the trappist yeast and brown kandij sugar. Some caramel and chocolate, oxidised character, very moderate hops in the finish.
