Dannebrog means the banner of the Danes or the red-colored banner.
A well-known myth about the origin of our flag tells that on June 15th of this year it is 800 years since the Dannebrog fell from the sky during Valdemar Sejr's battle at Lyndanisse against the Estonians.
On this occasion we have brewed a strong, red beer with fruity and spicy notes and a very discreet, underlying acidity.

Copenhagen 31/7 2020. 50 cl bottle from Helsingør Vinhandel, Bramstræde, Helsingør. Painting of C.A Lorentzen with Nationalistic fervor on the label with the Danish flag soaring over the battlefield in Estonia.
Pours murky brownish red with a small white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer.
Aroma is medium intense with a strong sweet odor of dark fruit and alcohol. Plums, apricots and raisins. Light roast. Sweet liqueur with almonds and sugar. Some sourish, grainy notes.
Strong carbonation. Medium thick, soft, oily, tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a sour undercurrent leading to a dry finish.
As a dark, sweet and boozy yet tart specimen this should be a fitting beer to celebrate a bit of flag-waving nationalism.
