Have been to this brewery a couple of times. Twice to their old site and once to their new one. The old site was a garage down by the river, which was really nice in the summer months. The new location is on the main drag through town and is modern and a whole lot bigger. Only had food at the old location which was BBQ and limited. Would go back but not ou of my way to get there, If it was there old location, I might go out of my way to get there.

Newish 2 story brewpub on the main road through town. Brewhouse and some seating downstairs, oval bar, dining room and deck upstairs. Only 7 beers on tap. Efficient bartender. Tasty appetizer.

what an amazing space these guys have, west of hood river, and a little tricky to get to off the highway there, but well worth the trip! its set right on the banks of the river, with the majority of their space for drinking outside under tents, on a nicely manicured property that looks to be adjacent to a state park or something. river flowing by, gorgeous mountain scenery, mature trees, its a great location for a brewery, and we were happy to be there taking it all in. the whole set up is pretty minimal, a walk up bar inside with a food line and a beer line, mediocre service overall, which is to say there really wasnt much service, and the tanks all in there behind the bar area, not much seating inside. they apparently plan to build out a larger brewery just up the hill, which im sure will be just as scenic and offer a little bit more of the classic brewpub experience, although i quite liked the minimalist nature of the place as it is now. no word on when this new facility will be open. we sat at a picnic table with bark mulch under our feet and enjoyed our beers, played some cards, and had a couple of pretty decent sandwiches here, but the food was nothing special. i got both the wet hop beers, and enjoyed them, but they did not really stand out from the crowd of them that exists up here this time of year. still, they were solid, and the views were spectacular. i look forward to seeing how these guys evolve, i hope their new place is as cool as this one is, it was a great setting to drink beer in!

You couldn't ask for a better setting than Thunder Island: right adjacent to the Bridge of the Gods on the Columbia River, the brewery is situated literally *in* a park. On a beautiful day, you can sit outside and enjoy probably the best scenery I've ever experienced at a brewery.
When I visited, there were 8 taps available; I had the cream ale and the hefeweizen, the latter of which was quite good. They have a small kitchen with simple but tasty stuff; I had the chicken club sandwich. Thunder Island is absolutely worth a stop if you're visiting the area.

Super scenic location. I came upon this place by accident and almost mistook them for a mirage.
Lots of nice picnic tables on the edge of the Columbia River, right at the entrance for Cascade Locks.
Eight house brewed ales on tap, along with 2 ciders and 2 wines.
I tried 4 beers that were all very good or better. Excellent chicken sandwich.
Great stop on the way up/down the gorge.

Came here on the most beautiful spring day. Isolated, and right on the Columbia River with absolutely gorgeous views only increased the experience. Kid friendly with games, excellent brews and food. The only negative might be the slow service, however, if you're here, you don't want to rush it. Definitely check this place out if you're around. Cheers!
