This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a burnt amber color with a sly transparency about it. Mild finger’s worth of white foamy head that sat atop and slid off at a mild pace. Some light stringy lace. The aroma had some soft herbal to earthy malty tones up front. Light mineral character, some butterscotch, leather and driftwood round out the edges somewhat nice. Touch of floral hops at the end. The flavor was smooth sweet crisp malts up front with the hops tones fairly low and smooth. Not much of an aftertaste but did a nice job of allowing everything to really smooth out very nicely in the finish. The palate was between light and medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt low, but it’s supposed to, so I’m not worried. ABV felt as projected. Overall, nice Irish red ale worthy of coming back to.
