this is the newest release from newly renamed vindication brewing. its a little brother to the american bold, with quite a bit less alcohol and body, but at almost 6% abv, still a bold claim to call it a session beer (pun intended). great beer though, amber copper color, some chill haze to it, and a nice white head with outstanding retention. the nose is much less hoppy than the american bold, but still in that czech grassy type family, which is a nice compliment to the caramel malt base. one thing i really dig about it is how dry it finishes. probably the driest amber/red I've ever had, and that makes it very easy drinking and pleasant without all that sweetness that usually comes with the style. hops aren't as pronounced in the flavor either, but they are certainly fresh, this was bottled two days ago, so freshness is as good as it will get. carbonation is right on, finish is ultra clean, again, so so dry. fun beer as hot summer days ease into cooler pre-fall evenings. vindication is really onto something here, all of their beer has been splendid.
