a massive imperial stout with coffee and cocoa, a really solid offering, along with the porter it was the best of their dark offerings, and whatever their yeast issue is in here with so many of their beers, its real mild here, covered up maybe by all the dark grains, making this one more pleasant and even more drinkable than many of the lighter beers. lots of body to this, tons of dark roasted bitterness, and just accents with the coffee and cocoa, not too intense or over flavored at all. lots of nuance to this, from licorice to clove to smoke, with things like raisin and molasses and milk chocolate also present. its got some sweetness left at the end, but plenty of bitterness to balance it. the coffee seems a little stale to me, like it was brewed awhile ago, but its not green peppery or anything, just a little off fully fresh. smooth in feel with only slight astringency at the end, and really well hidden alcohol for how strong it is. they do some fruited versions too which sound really interesting, but this original version is pretty good too. one of the better beers in here, if only because its a bit cleaner than the others...
