Cloudy amber color. Modest head from the bottle pour. Decent blanket of lace initially.

More malt than hop to the nose. I also detect an old refrigerator smell that is a bit off.

Semisweet start with a solid pale malt base. Not fruity. The hop is start forward, peaking in the swallow. The aftertaste has good balance.

IPA 174 was a great find at a friend’s house! Have been drinking it at the beach and outings during my stay in Lima... A beauty of an IPA beer with a medium-dark golden color, smells of fresh pine and sharp citrus with the right amount of bite. Only sold individually and not on 4-packs or 6-packs making it pricier at around $3-$4 each bottle.

It is a good I.P.A, happy to know that you have new Peruvian breweries, making others things than lagers. The Color is copper, orange and troubled, average carbonation, thin and white foam. The taste is in the mouth plesant, well-balanced with malt and generous hop.

I don't know that I'd notice this beer especially amongst a line-up of similar West Coast (California) IPA's, but finding it on the supermarket shelf in Trujillo (Peru) was a cause for celebration. Brewed in Lima, Peru in a general beer climate that can best be described with the single word "LAGERS!", the 174 IPA is delicious and satisfying. I honestly don't remember the look or feel of the beer, but can say with confidence that the smell and taste were spot-on! Hoppy, not too bitter, no funky off-tastes...
Kudos to the Barbarian brewing team!
A bit pricey for a 330ml bottle, roughly $3 US.

A very good American style ipa brewed in Peru.Had a best by date on it of 7/25 /15, I drank it on 3/20/15. Was more piney than citrus. Would drink again for sure.
