I never thought my first craft beer in Peru would be in a tiny airport outside of the jungle in Puerto Maldonado, but let's do this!
Appearance is hazy amber-brown with a short white foam that settles to a bubbly collar.
Smell is wheat biscuit and passion fruit, with a sort of IPA dankness lingering behind.
Taste is like a softly malty IPA with a touch of tart and tangy passion fruit, yet a semi-bitter finish.
The light-medium body has a soft froth and a semi-dry, prickly finish.
It's more exciting just how localized this beer is with its ingredients, and that it includes both passion fruit and ground cherry. My first experience with ground cherry was in a Peruvian dessert, and it was absolutely mind blowing, so it's fun to experience it in a beer as well. Peruvians really love their fruits, so its no surprise they're finally adding them to their beers. Their array of passion fruit is amazing, but their bounty of fruit is all around overwhelming. I look forward to what comes out of this wonderful country, and especially this cool brewery, in the years to come.
