This beautifully hazy, double dry hopped version of our pale ale is balanced but vibrant – bursting with tropical aromas of grapefruit and citrus. Over 4lbs per barrel of Citra, Cascade and Mosaic.

16oz canned 12-2-20. Opened 12-12-20.
1 finger white head. Good retention as it slowly falls to a solid cap.
Fully opaque orange-golden APA. Wispy lacing clings to the glass.
Pungent aromas of underarm, weeds, oranges...vivid, expressive, and fresh.
Citrus - orange peel, blueberry, zesty flavors.
Medium + body, soft mouthfeel, and low bitterness. Medium length, mostly dry finish.
A very nice APA, at 5.5% with this much aroma and flavor it gets extra credit from me. Hits on all aspects - a pleasure.
Outstanding.

Poured from can into tulip, good 1+ finger cream colored head, good retention and lacing. Pale hazy golden in the glass. Big citrus/grapefruit on the nose and slight pineapple. Taste follows the nose, citrus up front, pineapple, herbal/floral thru the middle and finishes with a good firm bitterness. Finish is dry, lightly acidic and mouthfeel is on the softer side.

CAN: 50cl pull-tab. Ran me $3.99 USD for the single plus tax at a Whole Paycheck in New Orleans, LA. Canned 08/26/19.

5.5% ABV. MALTS: Pilsen, 2-Row, Oats. HOPS: Citra, Cascade and Mosaic. YEAST: Hose Ale. 49 IBU.

BODY: Hazy orange of average vibrance. Nontransparent. Translucent. No yeast/lees are visible within. Appears unfiltered.

HEAD: A bit thinner than would be ideal. Not real creamy, full, frothy, or robust, but it does pour a good ~4cm and sticks around for ~6 minutes, which is nice.

Looks adequately carbonated. Generally appealing without standing out within its style.

AROMA: Juicy orange from the Citra, blood orange, citrus zest, floral hop aromatics from Cascade. I'm not finding Mosaic's signature subtle blueberry note or even any generic tropical fruit notes like Mosaic usually throws out (particularly when combined with Citra). 2-row/pale malts lend balancing sweetness.

No oat aromatics or any overt yeasty notes apart from vague fruity esters.

A pleasant aroma suggestive of a drinkable but low bitterness pale ale with a nice hop profile. Certainly inviting and fresh.

TASTE: Does hit on Mosaic's signature blueberry note, but doesn't explore it as fully depth of flavour wise as other Mosaic hopped ales (e.g. Lone Pint's Yellow Rose). Still, it's a welcome flavour not promised by the aroma. Orange, citrus zest, Cascade floral hop flavours, tangerine, a scintilla of lychee. Not resinous, oily, piney, grapefruity, grassy, or herbal.

Pale malts keep it balanced but it seems like bittering hop additions were minimal anyway. Saccharomyces esters.

Definitely Citra-dominant, with Cascade taking a backseat (there's none of the oily punch you'd find in a beer like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale). Citra and Mosaic hops in combination tend to keep pale ales and IPAs from feeling lackluster in terms of hop profile and this is no exception, but that magical combination has been done far better in myriad American beers already.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, mellow, somewhat soft, zesty, refreshing, and emphatic of a mellow citrus acidity to good effect.

Not oily, gushed, hot, astringent, boozy, rough, or scratchy.

Carbonation could be better dialed in, but it's adequate. Medium-bodied.

OVERALL: It wouldn't be a pale ale I'd buy over Sierra Nevada Pale Ale if sold at $9.99 a sixer of 12 oz cans, and it certainly won't be one I'll revisit at $3.99 per 50cl single or $12.99 per 4 pack, but it's an enjoyable pale ale from Great Raft and I'm glad I tried it once. Big room for improvement in terms of hop pungency and depth of flavour, and I'd definitely appreciate more brought to the table from the Cascade.

Growler from 504. Pours medium to light golden, finger white head leaves a little lacing. Huge citrusy tropical aroma, wow! Citrusy hops with touch of sweet malt, tropical flavors in there, pineapple. Finishes slightly dry with just the right amount of lingering citrus peel bitterness. Thin to medium semi soft feel. Excellent brew. Psyched to hear they are canning this one.

A slightly dankier version of the original beer. Fresh hop aroma, dank, resin dominate the olfactory and the palate. Basically just a more intense version of the original for all the hop heads. Great beer.
