Old Mad Joy is a Baltic porter with layered malt complexities of chocolate, coffee and roasted barley. This dark and rich lager shines with a boozy but restrained sweetness and builds a slight fruitiness as it warms.

Pours an effervescent & turbid mahogany/ebony with 2 fingers of caramel colored head. Alright lacing & head retention
S: Maple syrup, bourbon, boozey once warm
T: Follows the nose, dryness, a touch of charred grain & some booze burn up front, filtered through Bourbon, vanilla, raisin & plum. Some dark chocolate & vanilla, plus maple syrup dryness/sweetness as this warms, some rougher barrel notes & boozey warmth as well. Finishes with nice Bourbon & Maple notes, pretty dry with some plum & raisin & just a hint of smokeyness
MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation at first
Well worth picking up, I believe this will get even better with age
