Appearance: Cloudy light amber, fluffy white head with moderate retention.

Aroma: Bready, a little caramel, floral hops

Flavor: Bread, caramel, alcohol, bitter

Mouthfeel: Light bodied

Overall: Didn't enjoy this one as much as many others. Visually not appealing. It's quite cloudy and has short head retention. It's very out of balance, very prominent bitterness kicks in right away, then caramel flavor with notable alcohol presence. Brewery states full bodied but it drinks light to medium. Not one I would drink again.

A: Pours a dark orange color. A small white head forms and recedes to a ring. Light lace is left behind
S: A very neutral aroma. Cereal grains, sweetness, light grassy hops...I think but very light.
T: Like the nose, cereal grains, just a touch of something vaguely resembling grassy hops. Mild sweetness, almost no finish. Just very neutral overall, which is more blah than anything.
M/O: A medium body with moderate carbonation. Fairly clean, but not much of a finish. Just kind of there. Not hard to drink, and not bad, just kind of generic and standard.

Very much by the books. Just kind of grainy and lightly sweet. Inoffensive, in that American, kind of sweet, kind of orange like colored lager way. No real connection to an Oktoberfest, let alone a Marzen, or whatever German style you want to put here. Though drinkable in a generic kind of way. Faint praise, and just OK.

*Edit- 2021 batch was stellar, one of the best American Oktoberfest beers this year.

Great Raft is one of my favorite breweries to this point, so of course I had to grab one of these tall boys to try out. Super yeasty and bready in the mouth with a heavier hops bitterness than you normally taste in this class. Finishes with a touch of sweetness; grainy with a light burnt toast flavor on the exhale. I could happily drink a few of these. Another outstanding offering from these guys.

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2+ fingers of eggshell colored head, Not much head retention & less lacing

S: Very bready & a little bit of grassyness

T: Follows the nose, toasty & dry, some pear & leafy hops up front. More toastyness & dryness as this warms, just a little caramel. Finishes dry, toasty with some brown bread & a little brown sugar

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, good balance

Decent take on the style, a little less dryness/toastyness would've helped drinkability

This has to be a different recipe from the original, but I’m not a big fan of the flavor.

Great Raft Oktoberfest has a thick, egg-shell head, an unusually hazy orange-amber appearance, and minimal glass lacing. The aroma is of faint bread crust, and the flavor is similar, with some lemon and syrup. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Great Raft Oktoberfest finishes mostly dry.

CAN: 12 fl oz pull-tab with an orange label. (They also package this in 16 fl oz blue cans). Canned 08.23.19.

6% ABV. Marzen.

Oddly sweet and dry, with a thick breadiness up front and a raw doughy yeast taste in the late second act.

Not a beer I could quaff by the litre at a festival given its sweetness and thickness.

One of the lesser Marzenbiere I've tried this season, but not entirely undrinkable.
