Multiple sessions.. over a year +
Dark, tiny light seeping through.
Malty with some chocolate, citrus and licorice.. that stands out on the nose.
The overall taste matches up with the smell, yet is very robust for a BIPA.
Black Tie is thick like a Porter or Stout, yet handles the IPA side, without flaw. I do like this beer a lot, and when I see it available, it always goes home with me.

Happy to be the 11th review of Black Tie. I'm fan of Black IPAs.
A: 4 Persistent creamy head and lacing over a black body with legs. What more could you want? Can dated 5-17 into a Meantime stemmed pint goblet. A looker.
S: A bit faint compared with the flavors. Floral hops and dark roasted malts. Coffee and chocolate joined with marmalade and oranges.
T: Roasted coffee beans, malt, wood char, and dark chocolate, and a large citrus hop bite. Mixture that traces back and forth nicely between grapefruit and orange juicy high notes with the bass roasted, coffee, and wood char flavors. Delightful and abundant see-saw.
M: Full bodied for a IPA. Drinks like a hoppy porter. Finish is drying and bitter.
O: As good a black IPA as any, especially if you wish the juicy, hoppy, citric side.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. And yes, that can did come courtesy of the amazing woodychandler. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, light citrus. Taste is roasted malts, citrus, some coffee, mild bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

I don't know what to say about this beer. Very deceiving flavor and feel. Probably the best beer I've had in 2016 so far.
