sold to me at the brewery as a double red, a classic and old school recipe, with a little alcohol peaking through and a ton of malt character, crystal based, maybe english, maris otter or something, not overly sweet, well toasted, and not too heavy as a patio beer on a summer day, although i suspect the alcohol is higher this time around than it is listed here as being, but i didnt catch it, drank in the 8% abv range to me. i get slight almond, honey, and bread crust, and some soft yeasty character in the mix, it comes together and it stays together. it was great spicy nachos, but would work with wings, a burger, any pub food really, and they sure do nice food here! this tastes like a recipe that would have been boundary pushing a couple of decades ago, but now tastes like something that time has passed by. that said, its fresh, not heavy in body, and clean as these kind of things go. an odd pick for the hot summery weather today i will admit, but i was very pleased with my choice this afternoon. dont judge me...

On nitro at Bier:Thirty. Cloudy, milky amber body, with creamy head, lacing coats the glass with a thick layer of crust. Smooth red amber lager, unlike any lager I’ve had. Easy to drink for sure.

Very malty as you'd expect but an excellent red ale that remains extremely drinkable as it approaches room temperature.
