Brewed in the tradition of the Strong Dark Ales and with imported Belgian malts. The complex spicy aroma of licorice, dark fruit, and caramel malts comes from kettle additions of star anise, grains of paradise, cardamom seeds and dark Belgian candy sugar. Malt and spices balance the flavor with a touch of hop bitterness. Trappist ale yeast adds to the overall spicy and fruity character.

Nice dried fruit flavors and smells throughout. Dark brown/ruby body, small airy head. Gentle warmth, nice fruity flavors alter slightly with temperature increase. Nice Belgian.
