I picked up a 1/6 barrel today because we do not get many Quads in Boise, and Sockeye very rarely brews this beer. I saw a few beer reviews from 2012, but Sockeye brewed a batch and even though they ran out at the Pub, there were 3 kegs sitting at a local distributor.
I talked with a representative at the brewery and I believe he said that this was 22 IBUs, and he definitely said 9.9 ABV.
I poured my fist beer in a snifter and there was a nice tan head- although it dissipated quickly and left very little lacing. The beer is clear and the color seems to be a dark amber with some red tint.
The beer has a great aroma of Belgian hops with banana and dark fruits (plum and cherry). The taste is smooth at the front that follows the aroma and then a little boozy finish- but it is very easy to drink. The carbonation is very low- and like most quads, you really want this to warm up a bit to really bring out the flavors.
This will be a great sipping beer to savor- but with the low carbonation it can also be an easy to drink for a quad.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
