a cool fruited sour with some oak, a deep pinkish red color, and a lot of flavor, one of the more new wave and adventurous beers i have ever seen or even heard of from these guys. some cloudiness to this but the pink to lavender color is saturated and rich looking, the head is brilliantly pale and creamy, and the nose makes my mouth water immediately. seems more than just a bacterial souring, like a little bretty funk, mature anyway, some oak and even wine tannins on it, and a ton of fruit, generic berry, cranberry and strawberry too, fruity yogurt essence as well, and a lot of body, maybe oats or wheat or both in here. the flavor is fruit driven but the acidity is almost piercing, makes the fruit far less sweet than it might otherwise be, and with the obvious grain here still, this really does at least echo the famous cereal. i like the oak here a lot, takes this to a more mature and complex and adult range than i have known in other beers from sockeye, and it really does have some funk. lightly astringent, under ripe raspberry, tangy wild blueberry, lots going on, lemon too somehow. a slow sipper but thats cool because it warms up real well, and i think they did an awesome job with it overall. maybe wouldnt have five of them, but i liked this a lot. the new brewery is churning out some cool sours, this is well ahead of the curve for this sort of thing here locally, and i hope they keep it up. my lady loved it too! yum!
