on cask at the brewery next to the edition done with amarillo oil, my wife and i both preferred this one, although they were both nice and the purity of the hop profiles on each was striking. cool idea to add the hops this way, keep it fresh tasting and less green, subject to fading during conditioning, and really pungent in the right instances, awesome. cask offerings always on point here! the texture is amazing in both of these, and they are similarly colored, but this one has some really cool hop notes, green melon, white grape, kiwi fruit, faint tang but also lush greenness without harshness, some obvious berry notes in the nose, less in the flavor, vegetal in a good way, and bitter too, starting early with that and riding it through the swallow, fresh in a unique and concentrated sort of way. lightly woody to me as well, like fresh milled pine boards, the wood part not the needles, fleshy in that way, and nice with the more sturdy, classic malt profile of the original dagger falls, which remains in full form here. soft and smooth and not flat, nicely conditioned, really good stuff, a cool expression of azacca, a hop i dont always love, but am pretty stoked on here. this is extremely well executed! sockeye has shed the reputation of being kind of dated and tired, they have some very modern and awesomely relevant beers on tap right now, always do when i am in!
