a subtle and tasty gose here, not too salty, not too tangy from the cranberry and the lacto souring together, no double jeopardy there, and pretty well refined, will be festive in later fall and winter if they choose to keep it around, but it even hits in late summer here, as the tang has a citrus note to it and the salt seems to give it electrolytes or something like its hydrating and refreshing too. hazy and a little muted in the glass, not much head by the time the server gets the globe over to our table, but i dont know how long it sat at the bar, they were busy when we were in. not much color from the cranberry, if any, no pink hue or anything, just looks like a tired wheat beer. the aroma and flavor are very good though, clean natural honest cranberry behind earthy dry wheat, minerals from the salt, a hint of herbal coriander perhaps, and a bright but tempered sourness with lemon notes, relatively straightforward, but well executed and with nice proportions. it also has better carbonation than it appears like it does, and it drinks lighter than it looks too. the cranberry comes on pretty late, and its obvious the base gose on its own is pretty solid too. i was pleased with this, sockeye hasnt impressed me too much on their sour stuff to date, but this is very well done.
