the latest variant of this on cask at the brewery. i asked the server if this was done with a mix of different hop varietal oils, as until now i have only seen this done with single varietals in their cask program. he informed me that juicy is in fact a hop varietal, which i definitely have never heard of, cannot locate online, and am highly suspicious of in terms of it really existing or not, i still think this might be a blend of hop oils, but whatever, its a tasty brew and another fine cask offering from these guys, i think this more malty and bitter old school type ipa base lends itself well to this format, regardless of which hops it gets. more than typical fruity juiciness though from hops described as such, i still get the piney and resinous woodsy character of the base beer coming through first, higher alpha and sappy and wintery, well supported by the slightly caramelized malt complexion, smooth as can be from the cask, love the texture, and the hops stick to the tongue on every swallow. i wouldnt describe this as overly juicy from a hop sense, although there are some fresh citrus notes along with perhaps a dab of something that could pass as pineapple, but its the pine and juniper notes that lead the way. id like to know more about the ingredients, how this was done, and what the real story is, but i really dont care, its delicious even without knowing, and i continue to be impressed by the cask program here, no matter what they are pouring. i wish more local spots did this!
