this is really solid, but to catch it on cask is the real treat, they do such a good job with that program here, always one or two fun ones in this format at the brewery to try. i think the cask treatment flatters the mosaic specifically, and there is some amount of residual sugar in this that normally i wouldnt be into, but enhances the hops like an exclamation mark, except that punctuation isnt at the end, its all through it, the hops start early and linger long, and this being a pale, balanced by malt and with moderate bitterness, rather than a more assertive and potentially one dimensional ipa type, is a genius call, frankly this is among sockeyes best work in my experience, at least in this format. not super hazy really, a little bit of a copper tone to it, and a creamy pure white quarter inch or so of foam on top from the draw, bubbly and somewhat study, looks nice. aroma and flavor almost suggest cryo mosaic to me, there is that intensity without green oversaturation, a glorious expression of the hop here and without any of the catty side of it. a tad nutty and a little sweet from the grain, yeast neutral, and fantastically fresh. notes of lemongrass, canned pineapple, white tea, and tangerine all pop. the texture is amazing too, they have this cask conditioning dialed. get there and get some of this before its gone, i have yet to try it on the regular tap, but the cask version is stunning!
