500ml bottle picked up at Big Head's Bottle Shop in Missoula, MT
Poured into a Bottle Logic snifter
P black w/ a small tan cap; fairly quick recession
N med to med-bold licorice, roast, chocolate, and anise; really nice; more booze character as it warms
T deep roast, licorice, and dark chocolate; a bit muddled at first; restrained sweetness; dry-ish barrel finish; light nuttiness as it warms; subtle bourbon notes; not too shabby
Mf med to med-full bodied w/ med carb; chewy, yet has a slight creaminess as well
O great nose; profile reminds me of Abyss in a way; was just a touch underwhelming though- was hoping for a bit more oomph, so to speak

White wax-topped 500ml bottle, split with the wife. Pours very dark brown with a tiny cap of mocha-colored head and full opacity. The bourbon wafts off of this one with a nice char and caramel/vanilla component as well, moderately boozy but pleasant in its greenness, this might mellow nicely with a year on it. Mild notes of spice and honey are there, the palate isn't as smooth as I hoped it would be but the flavors are expressive and the finish is lingering.
