Politics & God is the heavy stuff, a colossal American Wheatwine with specialty wheat malt comprising nearly 60% of its total grain bill. After a slow and patient fermentation, the beer was matured in Old Elk wheated bourbon barrels for ten months. A rich and leggy mahogany liquid that will present aromas of rustic wood fired bread, raisin, and bruleed maple sugar, and deliver flavors of toasted almond, tanned leather, and waxy raw honey sweetness. This is the fullest possible expression of wheat in a beer, and the barrels were carefully selected to enhance the essential properties of the grain. 20 ibu

Many thx to muchloveforhops3 for this bottle.
A - Medium copper amber colored pour with moderate carbonation and dense, soapy caramel colored lacing.
S - Oak, maple, a small amount of raison / dark fruit / dates, and some maple syrup with a delicate Bourbon aromatic presence.
T - Some oak woodiness, maple, Bourbon, some "banana-like" nuance, honey, and ends on the sweeter side with a boozy presence.
M - Silky body leaves a light sugary residue on the lips while warming the back of the throat.
O - Enjoying this one!

500ml bottle picked up at Big Head's Bottle Shop in Missoula, MT
Poured into a Beachcrest IPA-style glass
P brilliant clear copper/chestnut; 1f white head
N rich sweet wheat malt, toffee, vanilla, and barrel; really nice
T zesty wheat malt, citrus, light banana, honey, and vanilla, with a boozy bourbon finish; a touch of toffee as well; light-med heat; drinks a bit lighter than the abv suggests, though; mod sweetness and light sharpness; really nice profile
Mf light-med bodied w/ soft to soft-med carb
O a well-executed BA wheatwine

Poured at fridge temp but it sat in the glass for 10 minutes before tasting. Pours a dark orange with minimal head. Bubbles rising throughout. The nose is toffee, vanilla, figs, apricot, smoke, and bourbon.
The taste is really interesting. A big hop presence hits immediately, along with pepper, oak, and tobacco. Dry. Bourbon, toffee, slight maple, and plums. The flavors are extremely intense and nicely integrated. I can't say that I've ever tried something like this. I'm loving it. I'm getting a peated whiskey vibe.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is pepper, toffee, and bourbon.
