Bucky's travelling minions thoughtfully brought him a bottle of Malty Python to sample, produced by Jones the Brewer Ltd. of Hereford, England. Malty Python came in a brown 500 ml bottle with no production or ‘best before' date (spoiler alert: will Bucky never learn?), and was 4.2% alcohol by volume.
Bucky opened the bottle and WHOOSH!...beer everywhere. About 1/4 of the bottle's contents poured out all over the table and floor. After an extensive cleanup, pouring the remaining beer into a glass produced about 3” of off-white head, no doubt the result of the large quantity of foam that rushed out of the bottle upon opening. It's aroma was not promising, hops with a hint of malt vinegar. Oh, oh…I've seen this movie before…malt vinegar is usually a tip-off that the contents have been sold well past their prime. The first mouthfeel confirms Bucky's worst fears…a big old mouthful of malt vinegar. Never , never, never again will I buy a beer without a production or ‘best before' date somewhere on the bottle. Learn from my mistakes people!
