poured into .5l german beer glass. Almost no head on pour, all foam was gone within a minute. Lightly carbonated, light taste and faint smell. Fairly disappointed with this offering, having had decent success with other Schwaben Brau labels. A slight notch above American mass market pilseners, but not much to compare to other German brands.

Beer bottle (33cl.), tasted in 2002.

Appearance : yellow/golden color, with white foamy head.
Smell : fresh hops aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : good and strong bitterness, with a long hoppy persistency.
Drinkability : an average beer in the style German Pilsener.

Like the previous reviewer, I got this beer at Lidl, a German supermarket chain available in Britain as well. Short-necked, 330ml brown bottle, BB 27/08/07, served chilled in a pilsner glass.

A: dark yellow straw in colour; the thin and fluffy beer head settles rather fast to obliteration, on top of reasonably gentle carbonation composed of medium and large bubbles.
S: hops outweigh malts on the nose, featuring a refreshing flow of straw-ish noble hops and doughy sourness...
T: slightly corn-ish malty upfront, followed by a stream of dryness and bitterness of noble hops... intensifyingly bitter and straw-ish hoppy into the second half of tasting, but in the end a weird, sour and slightly plastic grainy taste comes out, smacking of adjuncts?!... luckily it doesn't last too long.
M&D: reasonably crisp and clean, though the the body falls a bit thin in the end, and the carbonation is not the best I've encountered for a German lager, for it's a bit harsh... Still, the hop profile makes this a refreshing and more-ish pilsner. Maybe better on draught??

This beer is sold in the UK by the German supermarket chain Lidl. I drank this breweries beers while in Germany some years ago and had enjoyed them.

Packaged in six, dumpy brown bottles, each holding 0.33L, I got two packs.

Sadly, I have to report the beer I tried today bares no relationship with what I thought I was about to get.

The normal clear German Pilsner golden straw colour for the beer, the head just went almost before I noticed it, white, but no staying power.

No true aroma, just a slight hoppy tange.

Dry and boring really to taste.

Wet and thin is the only way to discribe the mouthfeel, I should have known by the price it would be a cheap supermarket Euro Fizz beer, but the breweries name conned me into thinking it was a bargin, never mind, only another 11 bottles to go.
