Poured a nice, clear red with a half-finger off-white head. It looks like an altbier should and that's good. Scents of bready malt, slight toasted alt and fruity esters. Not a particularly complex aroma, but nice and pleasant, not off putting in anyway. Taste begins with sweet bready malt, toasted malt and some nutty flavors, with a moderate level of hop bitterness, mostly citrus peel, with slight pine resin and peach pit flavors and a dry grainy flavor supporting the hops. The finish is dry with a grainy, cracker-like flavor. Very good, just enough hops to balance the sweet, bready, nutty and grainy malt flavors that are the centerpiece of the beer. Mouthfeel is light bodied with moderate carbonation and a semi-drying mouthfeel. Very nice, easy to drink and the slight drying urges you to take another sip. Very good. Overall this is a pretty good altbier. Its malty, but with a variety of different malt flavors on display and has a nice hop presence as well. Its not quite as good as their IPA, but if this is any indication of where Huss is going, they'll be one to watch.
