Craft brewed in the German tradition as it has since our founding in 1877, the Drewrys Bock Beer taste is easily pleasing with robust malt flavors and a chestnut amber color. Sweet, but with a light hop profile, it is sure to satisfy.

On the smell, I get roasty malts, some caramel and banana bread, as well as a slight hop kick. The body opens with a bitter hoppiness paired with more of those roasted malts and caramel. The mouthfeel is remniscent of biting into a muffin, with a bitter twang to remind you you're not. Not bad for an average drinker.

Pours gold-bronze with minimal carbonation and a slim one-half finger head. Aroma is bread and malt. Taste is caramel. The mouthfeel is moderate to light, with again, little carbonation, a sharp bitterness with a slight sweetness at the end.

As a boy In Chicago I remember the big grinning Mountie on the side of the Drewrys beer truck as it passed through the neighborhood. Wikipedia says it was a Canadian brewer that expanded into the United States after Prohibition; its breweries in Indiana did business with a lot of thirsty Chicagoans.
This revival of the brand is brewed under contract in Black River Falls, Wis., for a business in northern Illinois.
I found their bock to be a decent single-malt craft brew. ABV is 5.1% IIRC, so it's a little light for the style, but the aroma and malt-forward taste are true to form. Very smooth and drinkable.

Gifted a bottle to sample. Guessing this is an old-fashioned American Bock, no real info at the website. No clear date or ABV on the bottle. Poured into a short Becher.

L -- Clear copper color with a cream-colored head that settles to a resilient cap.

S -- Light caramel and bready malts with peppery alcohol.

T -- Caramel/toffee with some dark bread crust character back and light hop bitterness. Finish and aftertaste are very clean. Some mild diacetyl with warming.

F -- Mouthfeel is soft to lightly syrupy with a light-medium body.

O -- A decent take on the Midwest Bocks I used to hunt down in the late '70s.
