Smells slightly resiny, with soft fruit emerging. Flavor is somewhat hoppy and bitter at the finish. Not what I expected. Could use more yeast ester fruitiness.

This brew from Ei8ht Ball poured in a snifter from the tap room was a bright golden color with
hints of amber and a thin white head with light foam lacing. Nose of candy sugars and a ton
of hops with a dash of Belgian style yeast. Flavors were hops and more hops up front, sweet
candy malts to the sides, and light fruity citrus flavors on the back. The aftertaste was
overtaken by the sticky hop flavors and generous amounts of bittering hops. Very nice for
what it is. Nice smooth mouthfeel with moderate carbonation made it lively and refreshing
for being heavy on the alcohol. While not a true Belgian by style it was a solid ale to be
enjoyed by hop heads and Belgian drinkers alike.
Cheers
Update 3-5-16
The hop bitterness is much less in this version, floral and light on the background, and as such raised the taste to a 4 as compared to a 3.75. It's nice fruity esters and candy sugars hit all the right notes. After tasting this over a year later it is obvious to me that they have improved on the original recipe and deserve more appreciation for their craft.
