Thoroughly enjoyed from a growler via the brewery in a snifter. This beast of a quad pours a deep muddy blackish brown with a nice head of light tan foam that settles to a thick ring, subtle pool, and nice lacing. Nose of oak, bourbon, brown sugars, blackberries, and HEAVY booze. Flavors follow the nose with strong bourbon laden brown sugar malts steeped in blackberry puree. Bourbon and oak subtly fade to a touch of vanilla on the back and finishes with a sweet, subtly tart blackberry note laden with smooth bourbon and a dry aftertaste. Low carbonation; fantastic sipper...a great finisher to any night. A high octane brew that does not cross the boundaries of good taste as many of the bourbon brews do---especially at this alcohol level.
