Has some characteristics of a very light Barleywine, honey, orange jam and light vanilla. The aroma is amazing and taste follows suite. Very good pale ale, would drink again.

Screw-top growler filled at The Growler Room in Austin, TX a couple days ago. Reviewed live; served into a pilsner glass at low altitude in me gaff in Austin, TX. Expectations are average given the brewery; I'm not very familiar with their work.
Served cold. Side-poured with extra vigor as carbonation issues are anticipated given this is a growler fill.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: 3.5 finger wide head. Off-white colour. Soapy foamy consistency. Airy bubbly complexion. Light webby lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Retention is pretty good - about 7-8 minutes.
BODY: Translucent transparent copper of average vibrance. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Appears well-carbonated (in spite of this being a growler fill review). It's not unique or special looking for a rye pale ale, but it's generally appealing.
AROMA: Pale malts, floral hop character, faint pine, a dab of caramalt, slight soapiness indicative that this may have spent too long in primary fermentation, and traces of rye malt's signature spiciness. Overall, it's a timidly light aroma, but a pleasant one.
No yeast character, spices, overt alcohol, or off-notes are detectable.
TASTE: Pale malts. Clean barley. Sweet caramalt. Traces of faint graham cracker. Floral hop notes. A kiss of pine. Hop bitterness is surprisingly evident given that this is a pale ale. It's imbalanced as a result, and while this build is cohesive, it's certainly not gestalt. I suppose I like it in a general sense, but it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of subtlety, complexity, intricacy, nuance, and depth of flavour.
Average intensity and duration of flavour.
No yeast character, overt alcohol, off-notes, or spices come through.
The naked hop bitterness is quite troublesome. And where is the rye?
TEXTURE: Smooth, lightly coarse (and even a biteen rough), overcarbonated (and this is a growler fill!), medium-bodied, fairly thick, and unrefreshing.
Not oily, gushed, hot, astringent, boozy, harsh, or scratchy.
Overall presence on the palate is okay. This texture isn't a very good companion to the taste, nor does it elevate the beer beyond the limits of the flavour profile. Gets the job done, but it doesn't feel custom-tailored specifically to the taste.
OVERALL: A downable but underwhelming and pedestrian pale ale with nothing to offer the discerning drinker in spite of being dry-hopped and brewed with rye. I'll finish the growler with some effort. I wouldn't recommend this to friends. It's decent. Won't turn any heads.
