I tried this off the tapper at the Tap Room across from the Hilton in downtown Norfolk, VA. It poured an opaque dark with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had faint roast and earth. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with coffee and sweet malt base. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Poured a black body with one finger offwhite head and minimal lace.
Aroma is mostly roasted and grainy with hint of sweetness.
Medium to heavy bodied, a rather dry, boozy alternative to sweeter porters.
Unfortunately, other than a dry, roasted malt body (won't go with coffee or toasted or anything that dry), there is not much else here as there isn't any smattering of hops or sweet malts.
Just a one-note porter.
