Back Bay's original Orange Crush was a fairly "meh" lawnmower beer. The Imperial version is far more robust. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass, this beer is pretty much the Imperial version of a NE IPA. Straw yellow color, citrusy (mostly orange) aroma and taste, moderate bitterness and a touch of"dankness - this beer has it's origins in the NE style. The head is medium sized, bubbly - settling down to foamy - with good retention and lots of lacing on the glass. The flavor is subdued but the orange and bitterness are fairly apparent. Mouthfeel is moderately bitter, crisp, with a little alcohol presence/burn. This is an enjoyable Imperial IPA. The flavor don't blow you away, but overall it is a pleasant experience. I would drink this one again.
