Growing up as one of nine children in the woods of Buckingham, Fl, John Ashley knew that chicken-hearted men are apt to be forgotten. He soon represented the resistance against the system, crippling wealthy bankers and big city distilleries that undermined local moonshiners. the high powered but smooth imperial reminds us that sometimes you have to ignore the rules and make a statement.

Pours a amber color with some brighter orange highlights with a nice cream colored thumb sized head that laces well.

Aroma is nice sweet caramel malts with a good pine resin and citrus notes mingled in a nice hoppy mixture. Smells nice a good mixture of sweetness and hoppinesd.

Taste is nice like the nose but not as sweet as it smells. Good caramel bad with some bread notes. Hops are not bright but not quite dank, a deep citrus and pine resin bitterness that lingers through it the finish. Nice little I2PA, can see having this regularly if it was local, pretty balanced with malt and hops.

Mouhfeel a bigger medium. Carbonation is medium upfront lowers in the finish, about perfect fit this beer.

Overall I like it would have it regularly if it was available. Want to thank Charity for bringing this one up.

This is a VERY drinkable brew for clocking it at just under 10% ABV. I gave it a lower smell on the aroma because it smells quite sweet and that’s definitely not something I look for in an imperial (especially since it can indicate a syrupy mess). But get past that and you have a crisp, medium bodied, very drinkable imperial with notes of pine, grapefruit and hint of caramel. Highly recommend this brew.

12 oz can without a canned-on date but brought to me by distributor rep so I am assuming it is fresh...
Look: Medium amber colored with a 1/4" off-white head that quickly dissipates. it is semi opaque but not hazy in a NE style way. no lacing observed.
Smell: get sweet malts, bold resiny hop aromas and some alcohol. there's just a hint of oxidation
Taste: again very sweet malts, intense in your face bitterness, strong resiny piney hop flavors and alcohol
Feel: medium full body, oily resiny texture, moderate carbonation and pronounced astringency. Finish is long, hoppy bitter that borders on the harsh. there's a bit of alcohol warming present.
Overall: disappointing. waaay too strong in every way and over the top to be enjoyable. I consider myself a hop head. this is not what I am looking to drink.

Many thanks to jhartley for this can.

A - Pours a hazy dark copper/amber color with thick, creamy lacing. As the beer warmed the haziness dissipated.

S - Sweet caramel malt with a delicate and light resiny tropical fruit presence. The aroma is very faint overall.

T - Sweet toasted caramel biscuity malt, some faint resiny tropical fruit presence with a light moderate pine grassy bitterness on the tail end.

M - Big medium body with a soft texture.

O - An old school D-IPA that hides the ABV extremely well.

12 oz. can poured into a snifter.

Copper colored, old school IPA with whispy head that settles into collar.

Big burst of earthy and resinous hops. Pine and some malt sweetness.

Flavor is bold hops, caramel malts and earthy grass, pine and resins.

Moderate carbonation, a hint syrupy medium body.

An old school punch in the mouth super hopped up DIPA.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a Snorkel glass. August canning date.

Appearance: Amber-orange body with a thin cap of white head, no lacing left behind.

Aroma: Tons of pine and grassy hops along with plenty of malt.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Tongue lashing hops, total pallet killer! Nice sweetness from the malts, but it just has a lingering pine happiness from those hops! The higher abv is completely hidden in this beer.

Overall: Really tasty beer and easy to drink, can't plan on tasting much else after this one either.
