Arrives nearly pitch black with a creamy, caramel colored head. Head retention is good, holding at a very thick film. Some lace remains.
Smell is sweet, vanilla, malt, creme brulee, with coffee & toffee in the background. Great balance.
Taste is heavily toasted malts and coffee up front, chocolate, sweetness and vanilla come in in the middle with some toffee tagging along at the end. Fabulous balance and the complexity is absolutely world class.
Smooth, rich, creamy, mostly full body with a lighter, tight effervescence. Slightly warming with a lightly drying finish. An absolutely phenomenal example of the style, one of the best I've ever had and it's not even a nitro tap. If you like porters, you must drink this.
