Beautiful black color and appearance in the pint shaker with a thin cap of foam. Nicely sudsy in the mouth.
Dark and malty flavors with a velvety texture. some winey notes and a persistent malty sweetness. Not much of the burnt grain taste. This is a warmer and more refined brew with a hint of coffee.
Certainly a richly flavored big Porter that is more substantial than the run of the mill, especially with the normal alcohol content. Feels stronger than that, though. An appealing dark brew. On tap at the brewery in east Oceanside.
