Pours a clear bronze colour, with a very tight white head. Leaves very clear, thick rings down the glass - good clean lines at the Graduate. Nose is grainy, with a back note of dishwater. Tongue is malty, not very complex, late note of sweet grain. Finishes uncomplicated and sweet.

Assuming this listing is the “Caffreys Premium Ale” I was served… served on nitro: murky light brown, foamy head. The smell is of sweet toffee and light roast. The taste follows, though a little less pronounced, a little nutty, and with a sharp, metallic aftertaste.

June 2003: My can (bought in Norway, ABV 4,8%) says 'Premium Irish Beer', but surely this must be more or less the same thing?? An easily drinkable ale, perhaps not all that much character, but good, GOOD (not great). I don't hate nitro cans, but would like to sample this one on tap. (Maybe I have, without noticing....)
Rerate: ABV 4.2% version, 440 ml can says "Premium beer" but this is clearly the same stuff, just a little more watery version. Very smooth.

Looks great, tastes lousy. The nitro can did its job and it poured with a creamy head, however, that’s about all this beer has to offer. Aroma is wet paper. Taste is water with a caramel candy diluted in it. Very, very disappointing. Doesn’t taste bad, just doesn’t taste like anything at all.

From can stated 3.8 ABV. Pours out in a hazy deep blonde colour with smooth head and smooth body. Aroma of mild hops and straw. Taste of mild hops, light nuts, wheat, light barlley, light malt, bread and flowers. Easy drinkable and very refreshing.
