500ml bottle served in a Spiegelau tulip. Pours An inky black with a thin, mocha-colored slick that quickly dissipates into a tight band around the shoulders. Nose reveals molasses, dark chocolate and spirits. Taste is quite rich and decadent. Notes of dark roast coffee also come out, as well as hints of wood. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a carbonation just shy of still and an oiliness to the texture. Overall, lovely, rich and decadent.

Bissell’s classic Revival stout aged in rum barrels for 18 months. The result is a contender for best stout ever.
Some barrel aged stouts become too ‘alcoholic’ in taste and nature. Not this one. The aging makes it perfect.
Appearance is as it should be - opaque black/dark brown, light lacy head.
Smell carries the rum from the barrel aging, but not overwhelmingly so. There is alcohol on the nose, but not too much. The smell promises malt, chocolate, and caramel.
Taste delivers on the smell. An amazing balance of chocolate forward, followed by complex malts and caramels, subtle hints of dark fruits. No coffee notes. It definitely does not taste or drink like a 13.9% beer.
Feel conveys the alcohol a bit more than the smell or taste, a slight tingle to let you know this is not a light beer.
Overall, a candidate for the best stout you will ever have in your life.
