2021 AWFS, conditioned with an entire morning’s worth of house-roasted hazelnut and a tastefully proud amount of Tahitian vanilla beans prior to bottling. Likely the most decadent beer to ever come out of our brewery, but you know ol’ Lucifer would never let this gem get bogged down in true Pastrydom. It’s dessert for dark artists.

500ml bottle served in a tulip. Pours one shade shy of black with a thin, frothy, khaki-colored head that dissipates towards one side of the bowl into a cluster of bubbles. Nose expresses cocoa, spirits and vanilla. Taste is extremely rich and decadent. Huge hit of hazelnuts followed by coffee liqueur with some vanilla and ethanol rounding out the back. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a light oiliness to the texture and a carbonation that’s a bit sharp for the style. Overall, very tasty, but best shared, even at 500ml.

Had on tap. Slate brownish black body, brown head. Smell and taste are clones: hazelnut and huge vanilla sit atop a mildly roasted dark baker's chocolate porter with bourbon backing. Great for 4 oz or less, after that it starts to tax the palate a bit. You can feel this cumulative sweetness, but still frothy, smooth, and warm to help round out a bit. Cut the sweetness with more subtle adjunction and I am in. As is the greatness is muted to just goodness
