An absolute whirligig of New World hop flavor. Nelson and Southern Passion from the lower hemisphere meld with domestic Sabro, Buck Farms grain, our house yeast, and Portland water to create a saturated, deeply tropical beer. (Tiki mugs not supplied.)

16oz can.
Pours turbid gold with an inch of white fluff. Plenty of tattered lacing and persistent retention. Fairly pungent aromatics with mango, peach, stone fruit. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Unripe peach, orange, and mango. Finishes fairly dry, a bit pithy yet juicy.

Poured from the can into an elongated tulip glass.
Custard orange color but not turbid in appearance. Cream top, with a real big form off the pour but not crazy out of control. Thick staying power and a nice top of vanilla yellow that looks real nice .
Bright hop aroma with touching notes of pine and hot tropical fruit. Sharp hinting bitterness, dry flour and a touch of cream
Palate is hot and huge. Blasting pine and woody hop notes on first sip. Large mint and powerful herbs fill the mid palate, light touches of sweetness but very powerful bitterness and only a hint of cutting sweet cream.
Do like this aggressive palate, but almost just a hair much. Still very impressed though .

Canned 4/3/23
This is my first beer from Bissell, and my first beer that I’ve gotten as an extra in an MBC purchase. I’ve been meaning to try this brewery for quite some time, so I’m happy I’ve finally gotten a can. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours a milky pale yellow with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
That sabro is pretty aggressive in the nose, but I mostly like it. I’m picking up on aromas of raw coconut, orange juice, bready malt, earthy hops, white grape, grass, and a touch of grapefruit
It’s not quite as good in taste unfortunately, but I still think it’s fine. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting bready malt, raw coconut, herbal hops, grass, orange zest, and light pineapple. The swallow brings notes of raw coconut, pithy grapefruit, orange zest, bready malt, grass, and a touch of soap, the main thing dragging this down for me
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes neutral with an odd soapy off note
This is actually not great. I usually like sabro, but this is just overly aggressive. Not the worst thing I’ve had

So this is what it's like to not like nelson in a beer....
Cloudy pale gold with a half finger of white head that descends to a ring leaving little, lackluster lacing.
The aroma and flavor are both strongly green grape skin but there is some shudder-inducing character to it that I can't deal with. In the aroma it comes across as vaguely rubbery. In the flavor a bit ashy and diesel-esque. It is thinnish on the body front but still has a juicy character to it. The body rounds out as it warms and the flavor and aroma smooth out too, but I literally couldn't even as the young girls say. That said, it seems fairly well made and to style so I can't be overly hard on it. But still, I will ding it a bit in solidarity with my boy papillon sinus or whatever his name is. Paired well with some Jerry Reed, though he was pulling more than his weight in the pairing. When you're hot you're hot and when you're not you're not, indeed.
Here's to ya, @papposilenus!

From a 16oz can with an illegible date stamp - the 28th of something; probably June judging from their IG, although the dates don’t quite match up. Anyway, served in a spiegelau IPA glass.
Pours an opaque milky grapefruit juice colour with a finger-plus of super-soft, soapy suds. Retention is excellent, leaving a heavy cap of suds and a solid curtain of sudsy lacing.
Nose is faint but it’s creamy and berry-sweet with a grape juice-like aroma.
Taste is similar to the nose but, instead of the expected creaminess, it’s dry, puckery and sharp. Tasting sour white grape, grapefruit pith, guava, coconut water, dry white wine. Boozy coconut in the sinuses.
Feel is bone-dry, medium bodied with aggressively prickly carbonation. Feels warmer than 8% abv.
Overall, well, not a huge fan of either nelson or sabro which is certainly reflected in my ratings. A friend dropped off the can and, really, what kind of schmuck turns down free beer?
