Bissell. 500ML bottle. Nice art work. Let’s get to.
Pours like liquified amber with no head at all minutes in. Deep toffee & caramel dominate the nose, with the requisite spike of bourbon.
Betwixt & Between (Batch 2) is an aggressive bitch. Rye & bourbon scratch & claw to get on top, drowning the base like a sad witch in a bottomless dunk tank. And those barrels are sublime. Rye spices interact beautifully with the toffee. Mid-palate the booze explodes into the mouth & forebrain along with a whisper of sweetness (maple, I presume?), dry wood. Smooth as first ice. I could drink buckets of this. Make it a session barleywine, please.
Astounding. This is top-shelf stuff. If I ever see another Bissel Brothers barleywine available, I’ll snap at it like a black lab at its tail.

Mahogany brown opaque body with brighter edges, active tan surface islands. Smell has big rye and barley with maple, toffee, and oxidized oak accents, general booziness on the periphery. Taste has rye dipped in maple and molasses, with oak, barley, hint of date and caramel. Feel is warm and shaped by the rye barrel a lot, the maple bourbon somewhat, medium bodied and leans thinner and drinkable for style. Perfect for a cold last fall night
