Rich, Dark Chocolate, Coffee. A substantially rich and full bodied dark ale encompassing silky smooth layers of dark chocolate and coffee, with a bready, toffee-like finish. Brewed using 7 malts and flaked oats then balanced by the restrained use of Chinook and Mt Hood hops. Intentionally released the day before Halloween; one of the scariest ghosts you could come across in a haunted house is a soul seeker. These specters from the great beyond spend their time roaming the halls looking for unsuspecting victims to steal the souls from.

Poured on tap into a nonic at the brewpub.
Creamy light tan two finger head presented, with a very fine look almost nitrous looking. Dark mahogany to copper red and opaque body.
Aroma is minimal smoke with light hints of chocolate, a little husky sensing, with touches of bitter roast. Bit of an odd if interesting duck.
Palate takes a minor turn. Bitter grains and tanic husk mixing roast on first sip. Slight hint of nut, but also some wet mineral and a bit gaseous taste and feel. Quite a good but noticeable hop astringency on the finish, while tasty seems to bring out more of the tannic grain astringency bitterness.
Not bad but feels like some minor tweeking could make a better brew, but all is not lost.
