Farmhouse IPA

Citrusy, Bright, Floral. If a brewer working on a farm in Belgium made an IPA it might taste something like this. This brett-IPA is medium bodied but light on your palate. A touch of acidity dances playfully amongst notes of tropical and citrus fruits and fresh cut flowers.

On tap at Right Proper in Brookland.

Pours a hazy orange with thick, soft foam.

Smell is fruity and estery with notes of peaches and apricots.

Taste is fruity and peppery with notes of stonefruit and some pineapple and a well balanced citrusy bitterness.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a nice Belgian IPA that lacks a little body.

Hazy gold with brown highlights. Not the most attractive. Nice white head with good retention and lace, though
Very tropical in the nose. Papaya, mango, guava, etc.
Flavor follows aroma, plus a bit of peppery phenols and a bit of tartness.
Medium-light bodied, nice carbonation
Pretty dang good

@ Shaw

Hazy orange-gold with a thin, frothy white ring of a head. Flowery citrus hop aromas - smooth floral Brett, melon, and grape. Hoppier flavor with a nice mellow spicy yeast presence. Bright grapefruit zest, flowers, mango, and faint berries. Creamy smooth medium body, yet dry and refreshing. Enjoyable.

On tap:
Pours with maybe a light chill haze, but a yellow gold body. Head on hero pour was spotty surface white wisps and a medium rim that gives some decent lacing.

Nose is a nice mix of the Brettanomyces tang/funk and a grassy bitterness, leaning against the barn. Fresh and light and I think will be enticing to Brett fans.

In a little bit of a bait-and-switch, the flavor walks over to the hop fields away from the barn, at least initially. The opening taste is a nice mix of funk/tang/bitter. There's a little tickling carbonation to lighten the whole thing. The carbonation fades and seems to uncover the bitterness - a pine branch bitterness initially. Grapefruit pith comes to mind in the end as there is a light tart resurgence there. Lingering notes are dry and bitter.

Warmth blends the beer a little better and the transition from funk to bitter takes longer and smooths a tad.

If you enjoy more bitter Brett pales, you will likely like this. It also seems more American in its IPA side. The Brettanomyces has a decent part in the nose; however its co-star role up front becomes a supporting role by the end. I'd let it get to a proper temp before final judgement.
