My first Belgian style dubble. Drinking usually German imports.
Very nice dark color.Does not have a strong smell really. The taste surprised me as i m not trained in drinking any Belgian style beers even though i went probably 20 times to Belgium, a great country.
Goes down easy, mildly sweet, then hoppy, then some bitterness kicks in.
I can say this local Atlanta craft beer will make me try more Belgium style.
Merci

I got a can of this beer from my bestie from Charlotte, NC. It poured a dark clear amber with khaki head that is leaving some lace. The scent had Belgian sweetness and caramel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with dark Belgian sweet malt base and caramel highlights. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had smooth carbonation....should be notes I added a beer stone to cut the carbonation as it was overprimed. Overall it is a great beer.

Appearance: Medium brown, cloudy, mousse-like off white head with great retention
Aroma: Fruity, yeasty aroma: pear, apricot
Flavor & Aftertaste: Malty, grainy, light dark fruit
Mouth-feel: Light to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation
Overall: Solid, drinkable Belgian Double. Lack the carbonation I've had in imported Trappist Ales. Yeasty esters are light. Aromas are not quite as layered and complex as most Trappist/Abbey ales I've had. Those seem to reveal more layers as you drink them. Nice, above average Belgian style Double. Quite drinkable

Disclaimer -- I'm not a Dubbel expert (or even novice), but I found this to be a very drinkable yet unboring offering on a cool, pre-winter evening. This beer was not as fruit-forward as I expected, but it did seem to have somewhat of a fig and melon (yeah, I know) undertone. Really enjoyed this.

A - mild nose some esters
A - a little on the dark side for a single/dubbel and little head to observe
F - the beer has a slight funk which at first I thought was a mistake but having been repeated I assume it’s an intentional ester.
MF - moderate with some warming and slickness
OI - average Belgian pale but if you like sour beers there’s a hint of sour beyond what I’d expect for a Belgian pale and even a double.
